If you have had your Blackberry for any length of time, chances are you have grown weary of looking at the same tired themes. A great variety of themes, both free and for sale, are available on the Internet. The easiest way to get these themes on your Blackberry is an Over The Air (OTA) download; however, many of the free themes require a computer to first download. This is a few more steps, but no more difficult than the OTA download

Step 1:

• For a computer download, save the theme file to an easily found folder on your computer. If the file is a .zip, unzip the contents before continuing.

Step 2:

• Plug in your Blackberry to the computer using the USB cord that came with it.

Step 3:

• Open the Blackberry Desktop Manager program on your computer.

Step 4:

• Click on “Application Loader” and then click “Add/Remove Programs.” Allow the Desktop Manager to scan your Blackberry and populate a list.

Step 5:

• Click on “Browse” in the lower right of the Desktop Manager screen to search for the folder where you saved and unzipped your theme.

Step 6:

• Choose the .alx file inside the theme folder and click “Open”.

Step 7:

• Choose “Next” and then “Finish” to complete the installation. Your Blackberry will have the theme downloaded into the Options Menu.

Step 8:

• For an OTA download, use your Blackberry browser to go to the Over The Air (OTA) download site given to you. Choose “Download” to install the theme to your Blackberry.

Step 9:

• To activate your new theme, go into your Blackberry’s Option menu. Scroll down to Theme and press “Selected.” Scroll to highlight the theme you just downloaded and hit “Select” to activate it as the current theme.
